Educational Resources

Education resources are available for teachers and students for French and Ethiopian curriculum and can also be adapted to other school programs. Those resources, mainly case studies, portraits and audiovisual content, introduce and improve the student’s skills in research (History, Geography, Sociology, Science, etc.) and their knowledge about the Ethiopian heritage, global heritage, tourism, development, etc.

If you are interested in education programs and that you want to build a partnership with your class, your school or your association, please contact us.

Podcast

Preserving Lalibela in Times of Crisis is a documentary that tells the experience of the Sustainable Lalibela project through the voices of residents, artisans, and researchers who contribute every day to preserving and bringing Lalibela's heritage to life.

“We wanted to meet those who, whether from Lalibela or elsewhere, are professionally and personally invested in preserving this site. They share what this place means to them, how their work has changed their lives, and their relationship with the Lalibela community. What meaning they give to their commitment.”

Produced by the French Centre for Ethiopian Studies, Preserving Lalibela in Times of Crisis is a 48-minute audio documentary that gives voice—in Lalibela—to those who sustain, work on, and transmit the living heritage of this unique site on a daily basis: artisans, cultural officials, researchers, and local residents.

With a soundscape combining testimonials and ambient sounds from the field, Preserving Lalibela in Times of Crisis raises a central question: how can we preserve a fragile heritage while involving those who bring it to life on a daily basis, at a time when crises and conflicts are shaking the territory?
